Since I really had nothing to do at 1:10 in the morning, I decided to review my blog posts - all of them. I was faced with a very brutal reality check. In virtually EVERY blog, I write about how I haven't posted in a long time and that there is something *new* I am going to commit to. But to no avail, the next post (typically 2 months later!) is a poor admition that I didn't follow through. And what of my last post? THE EXACT SAME THING! Damn.
Those who know me best know that I am the queen of self-inflicted guilt. Thus the reason for my 1:10 am update. So here I am following through in my commitment. Here is a new post. One thing I have learned about myself in this intrinsic examination is that I am a "do it now" person. So honestly, if I had waited until I woke up tomorrow, I seriously wouldn't have done anything. I have to take advantage of my brief moments of motivation and snatch them up like a kid at an easter egg hunt. Though my basket, at this time, is rather empty I am on the lookout. It will be full. Soon.
So even though this is a nothing-post it still qualifies as a post. Be proud of me and stop giving me guilt for not writing more, interesting, and thought-provoking verse. It's 1:10 in the frickin' morning!
I live in Suburbia. I work in Suburbia. I shop in Suburbia. I am completely surrounded by it. There is no escape. But in a place so poised and manicured, what could really go awry?

IT'S A GIRL! ANOTHER ONE!
So, after some guilt-laden conversations with my dear friend Kami and my sweet, sweet mother, I have been forced to reconcile with this thing... this blog. I always have great ambition to begin a project, but as written before and as my husband (and now friends and mother) can attest, I suffer from a common disorder called Lack-of-follow-through-itis. If you need a clear picture, just look at the previous blog I posted. Yes, that's right, you read the date correctly... it says DECEMBER! I know. I know. The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. I admit I have a problem with following through on my commitments. So nonetheless, I am taking another crack at this bloggity blogger business in an effort to keep my friends, family, and any other uninterested persons up to date with all the non-happenings in my life.
The latest: WE ARE HAVING A BABY GIRL!
For those of you reading this who haven't seen or heard from me in the last 5 months, I am pregnant... with a full head of pregnancy idiocy. Just yesterday I looked at the date of our first ultrasound picture and this is what it had written: 12.22.08. The words that came out of my mouth were, "November... no I mean October." Phil: "Are you kidding?!" Me: "You know what I mean. The month with the 12 in it." No joke. Or how about the fact that I have mysteriously misplaced my debit card and now have to put a hold on our account for 2 weeks until we get issued new ones. This was no normal "I left it at a store" misplace. This was "I put it in my jeans pocket while still at home and now have no idea where it is or which pants I put it in." Be jealous. My IQ has officially fallen below that of my poo-eating, tail-chasing chocolate lab. Yep. I am a genius right now. Wanna play Trivial Pursuit?
On top of all this fun-ness going on inside my brain, I went to the dr. yesterday and found out the nurse has my exact same due date. This would normally be one of those, "Wow! That's cool!" moments, but the nurse looks better than I did before I was pregnant - only she's 20 weeks along!!! And then there is me with my HUGE basketball belly. What a great moment. And her response? "But this is my first." Subliminally: "Yeah, I don't take the term eating for 2 as a literal recommendation." Yikes. I was feelin' pretty okay about things until this moment. Oh well. What can I do now?
But the good news: We had our ultrasound yesterday and found out that we like to make girls around our house. In spite of any book you read, method you try, concoction you drink, I really think you will ultimately get what you are supposed to have, not what you try for. But good luck trying. Here is our beautiful baby girl. Yes we have a name, but no I will not share it because... you know... someone might steal it! And I want her to be UNIQUE! Just like everyone else.
So enjoy the pictures and I'll see you again sooner rather than later (if my mom has any say in the matter). Love you Mom!
